Emilie Kiser Details Struggle to "Feel Happy" After Son Trigg's Death

Emilie Kiser isn’t sugar coating her emotions.
Five months after her and husband Brady Kiser’s son Trigg Kiser died following an accidental drowning in their family’s pool, the TikTok influencer shared how she’s dealing with her complex range of feelings in the wake of the tragedy.
“I just got out of a 2 hour long counseling session (longest I have ever done) and it was heavy but also so helpful,” she wrote in a post on her Instagram Stories Oct. 24. “We talked about so many things, but one of them being overall emotions and the guilt of sometimes having them.”
The 26-year-old—who also shares son Theodore Kiser, 6 months, with Brady—explained that she found it particularly challenging to allow herself to feel positive emotions amid her grief.
“One of the hardest parts of loss, other than the loss itself, is allowing yourself to feel happy again,” she continued. “Allowing yourself to not have an emotion about every emotion. Just having that emotion whether it's sad, happy, angry, guilty, shame, hurt, and really sitting with it and being okay with it.”
Emilie went on to offer an encouraging message to others navigating difficult circumstances, adding, “Sending love to anyone going through similar battles right now.”
And that certainly isn’t an empty sentiment, as Emilie previously discussed how the support she’s received online has helped her cope with Trigg’s tragic death.
“I have been truly blown away by the love, comfort, and support,” Emilie wrote in an Instagram Stories post in September. “I appreciate so many of you sharing your similar experiences and your own stories of how you have dealt with grief and loss.”
“The internet can be such a dark place,” she continued, “and in moments like this, I am reminded how much good there can be in the support and community that we can all give each other.”
